Tom’s Trading Story

Tom grew up in Vietnam and escaped to the United States in the 1980s with nothing – not even English.

Over many years and through extreme hard work, he taught himself English and attended college, ultimately earning an engineering degree and starting a career with Amdahl Corp.

He had finally “made it” in the land of opportunity.

Early Trading Experience

Although he was making a decent living working as a Systems Design Engineer, Tom always sought to improve himself and everything around him.  It was in the mid 1990s that he first discovered the US Stock Markets.

The potential was staggering and he knew immediately that this was something he needed to be involved with.  He began buying stocks of companies he had heard of in the tech industry. Everything he bought seemed to go straight up.

First Big Failure

For several years he kept buying more stocks, and they kept going up.  However, this experience was short lived.

The tech bubble popped.

Seemingly overnight, Tom lost half of what he made throughout the late 90s and early 2000s.

It was miserable.

However, he took what remained of his money and considered what to do with it.  He wasn’t about to give up on trading, but knew there had to be a better, smarter way to approach this.

Learning from Mistakes

Tom began to research, and he discovered something called “Technical Analysis”.  It was used by many professional traders to guide them in knowing when to buy or sell any particular stock.

As an engineer this made sense to him, so he proceeded to learn what he could about it online, and started trading again with his newfound knowledge.

For quite a few years, Tom traded based on technical analysis and did much better than before.

He thought he had everything figured out.

Until the Global Financial Crisis hit.

And although Tom lost some money in this crash, he didn’t lose anywhere as much as his first mistake since he was better prepared.

Investing in Education

This was a setback, but again Tom was unwilling to give up on trading.  He knew he was onto something, there were just some things missing from his approach, and he was determined to find out what they were.

He decided to devote himself completely to unlocking the secrets of trading, and began a program of intense study.  For three years, he took every course he could find related to investing or trading. Whether from books, online courses, or in-person trainings he spent over $100,000 on education and over $30,000 on trading software.

While the information was good, something was always missing.  Some small but crucial piece of the puzzle. Nobody was ever able to put it all together for him in a way that he could actually trade reliably.

Trading & Training

This is when Tom decided he needed to come up with his own method.  Combining everything he had learned from his studies, as well as everything he had learned from his own trading, he began working on how to combine it all into a single, all-encompassing trading method.

It took three years before it was ready, but as soon as he began trading this new method he saw immediate results.  He has been consistently profitable ever since that day in 2012.

Very soon after, friends and associates took notice.  They began to ask him how he did it, and if he would teach them to trade like he did.  At this time Tom was not interested in trying to explain what he did to anyone, he just wanted to trade, grow his accounts, and focus on the many businesses he now owned.

But as time went on, he began to wonder if maybe he could teach the method.

His first student was his son, Tim, who knew nothing of trading and had planned a career in banking.  That all changed once Tim understood his father’s methods, and began trading them for himself.

Now Tom knew it was in fact possible to teach his methods, and decided it was time to share his passion of trading with the world.  But as a serial entrepreneur, he knew he could build a company around this venture, and Stock Navigators was born.

The Technical Trading Accelerator

Tom surrounded himself with other like-minded people who shared the same vision, and they began developing what has now become the Technical Trading Accelerator program.

This unique combination of Tom’s knowledge and experience, combined with modern teaching techniques and a live, in-person and hands-on classroom experience delivers an unmatched educational experience to the student.
